In 2015 I had the opportunity to do the visuals for a special club night of the Jazz Festival Alto Adige, which took place in a gravel pit near Franzensfeste/ South Tyrol. This project was done by Gideon Breu & Me.The challenge was to emphasize the music as well as the magnificent setting of the location and bring it in harmony.Since trying anticipating experimental jazz music in advance or during the gig and screen some fitting visuals was for us out of question, we had an other approach of playing more with the gravil pit.
We collected a big variety of different rock-looking gravels & stones, doing videos of the spinning corded stones in a blackbox. The results were looped, arranged to mystical sceneries and played in varied speed coordinated to music.
