Brand founded and designed by me & Matthias Seidel.
Story: We (a good friend Matthias Seidel & me) came by chance into contact with a herbal liquor produced by an old pharmacist in Schwarzwald/ Germany. By enjoying this liquor in 2014 we saw great potential to distribute it among a bigger marketplace. Therefore we built up a brand and sold the liquor among friends and family for some years. Three years ago we were no longer completely satisfied with the liquor and the producer, so we looked for a professional distillery and discovered one an hour away from Munich.
In addition to the visual design, which I created, we have had the chance to redefine the taste as well.After another two years, we developed the tailor-made spirit.
In the meantime we determined our intentions of the project besides fun and learned lessons. We created a brand spirit, which we call the Flascherl Spirit. It is about providing good drinks, good music and good fun at fresh events for friends and future friends.
Design: The design is intended to remind us of the 19th century, when the myth-enshrouded Absinthe was born. The urban legend of its healing effects as well as the hallucinatory virtue was a controversial issue topic, which was especially dealt with by artists in the Jugendstil era.
In order to stand out from other spirits, the shape of the bottle is kept simple, instead of the often seen bulbous, extravagant design especially with liquors. The transparent bottle shows a natural caramel-like color, as the company’s main corporate color. The minimal black/white label makes use of the bright dark contrast that draws customers’ attention to the product.
The actual logo, the stylized rose blossom, gives a hint of the actual floral taste.For recognition, I designed two fonts, a bold corporate and a contrasting thin one. Both are a combination of ornate Jugenstil-like and sober modern fonts.
